RACE REPORT FINAL RACE The Final Race was held from Tods Hotel 539 km from the loft with liberation at 6.50 am on Friday 26th July. There was little wind at liberation which soon picked up to a cross wind of up to 12 km/hr. There was some cloud and fog in patches to start but clear at release.   RACE REPORT HOTSPOT 6 Hotspot 6 was held from Insuza 318 km Southeast of the loft. The race point was shortened by 55km because of the predicted adverse winds and rising temperatures during the day. There were clear skies and variable crosswinds and headwinds on the course from 14 to 16 km per hour. It was cold in the morning and the temperature climbed to a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius (86 deg F). The humidity was very dry between 10% and 20%. .....

RACE REPORT HOTSPOT 2 Hotspot 2 was held on 5th June from 192km. The weather was cool in the morning with a maximum temperature of 32 degrees Celsius during the day. The wind was a mild headwind. 2495 pigeons were sent to the race. The first pigeons arrived at a velocity of 1442 m/m with 1300 birds arriving in the first hour. On the first day 1621 pigeons had clocked. By the close of the race on the second day 1818 pigeons were home being 73% of tho.....

The weather was good with clear skies and moderate temperatures starting at 17 degrees Celsius with a maximum of 26 degrees Celsius. The wind was a gentle headwind of 5 to 7 km per hour. Our training is on-track for the first live toss planned for 3rd May. The road training has intensified, and the pigeons are responding well.   The weather has been reasonable with clear skies and moderate temperatures in the low 30 degrees Celsius (85 to 90 deg F). Since the last loft list the pigeons are being flagged and tossed daily from short distances in small groups. They are flying well and are learning to cope with hawk attacks with experience and as they gain fitness. The very high temperatures have cooled with the recent rains we have received. Central to Southern Africa, including the whole of Zimbabwe is in the midst of a devastating drought which will make racing difficult. The weather was clear with good visibility and a Northeast to North wind (side and headwind) over the whole distance. The wind was variable from 8 to 15 km per hour. RACE REPORT HOTSPOT 6   Hotspot 6 was held from Shangani 435 km on Sunday 16th July. The temperatures were cool with a maximum of 24 degrees Celsius and partly cloudy conditions. There was a moderate East tail to crosswind which became stronger during the day.   There were 3 pigeons on the first drop which recorded high velocities. Hotspot 6 is planned for 435 km to be liberated on Sunday 16 July at 7am. The sky will be clear and the temperatures cool with a maximum of 21 degrees Celsius. RACE REPORT HOTSPOT 5   Hotspot 5 was held on Saturday 1st July from 318 km. There was a cross wind which was very strong, blowing from the East as predicted. The maximum daytime temperature was 28 degrees Celsius but the early morning was chilly.   The winning pigeons recorded a high velocity, but the later pigeons were much slower with many coming back from the West.
