All pigeons including those that finished quarantine recently are flying around the loft, some for 7 months already. They are being trained daily from short distances except the last groups which will be ready to join in the truck training soon. The intake into Victoria Falls is complete and has done reasonably well. RACE REPORT FINAL RACE The Final Race was held from Tods Hotel 539 km from the loft with liberation at 6.50 am on Friday 26th July. There was little wind at liberation which soon picked up to a cross wind of up to 12 km/hr. There was some cloud and fog in patches to start but clear at release. The early morning was cold at 16 degrees Celsius but climbed rapidly during the day to 34 degrees Celsius (93 deg F) by 2 pm. From approximately 9.30 am the wind had swung to a .....

  RACE REPORT HOTSPOT 6 Hotspot 6 was held from Insuza 318 km Southeast of the loft. The race point was shortened by 55km because of the predicted adverse winds and rising temperatures during the day. There were clear skies and variable crosswinds and headwinds on the course from 14 to 16 km per hour. It was cold in the morning and the temperature climbed to a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius (86 deg F). The humidity was very dry between 10% and 20%. .....

  RACE REPORT HOTSPOT 5 Hotspot 5 was held from Manada Dam 348 km Southeast of the loft. The weather was good with clear skies and the temperature peaked at 29 degrees Celsius (84 deg F). There was a cross wind from the East which picked up during the day and was gusting at times. Many of the pigeons stayed online but the late birds were coming back from the West from the Botswana side. The tracker results showed the pigeons drifted to the West offline b.....

RACE REPORT HOTSPOT 4   Hotspot 4 was held from Insuza, 318 km Southeast of the loft. The weather was good with clear skies and mild temperatures. There was a cross wind which was strong at times. Many of the pigeons stayed online but the late birds were coming back from the West towards Botswana. The tracker results didn’t show anything significant although there was a slight drift down wind. There were falcon attacks and some birds returned injure.....

  RACE REPORT HOTSPOT 3 Hotspot 3 was held on 15th June from Lupane Dam, 237 km Southeast of the loft. The weather was good with clear skies and mild temperatures. The wind started at approximately 10 km/hr quickly picking up to about 17 km/hr directly from behind the pigeons. The first pigeon clocked after 2 hours 12 min achieving a velocity of 1791 m/min.
