Enduro Ace Final - Race Report
The Enduro Ace Final race was held on Saturday 17th December from Zvishavane, 502 km from Victoria Falls and was liberated at 05.30 am. There were 728 birds sent.
The race proved difficult as predicted with a direct headwind of up to 23 km per hour. The weather was not too hot because of cloudy weather with some light rain in places.
The first 2 pigeons arrived after 9 hours with a velocity of 926 m/m with a lead of 36 min. Pigeons came steadily for the rest of the day with 50 pigeons home on the first day. On the second day pigeons continued to return and by the time the race was stopped there were 239 pigeons home (33% returned in race time). The pigeons are in reasonably good condition and have recovered well.
We continue to receive pigeons after the race was stopped and will publish a list of the late pigeons.
All pigeons that have pedigrees will be sold on auction and the destinations and lists will be announced soon. Please urgently send through pedigrees. The only ones we have are showing online.
We found out some interesting information from 2 of 5 trackers that carried rings. The first tracker pigeon home did not carry a ring. The trackers that recorded information are;

Tracker 087 flew for 5 hours 45 min and then stopped until 16:15. It then continued flying for 6 hours 45 min mostly in the dark until 23:00. During the night flying it flew slowly but didn’t stop until it was very close to the loft. It covered a distance of 200 km in this time despite the fact that there was very little moon or starlight in the overcast weather. This pigeon stopped close to the loft on an island in the Zambezi River and then returned the next morning.
