The beginning of May is fast approaching.  That means that the VFWCPR must rapidly ‘get all its ducks in a row’ for the final stages.  And, after a few hiccups, the ‘Vic Falls team’ is complete.  Without any exaggeration, it could be called the ‘Pigeon A-Team’.

The Pigeon A-team has a very strong team of investors and brilliant communicators in Karen Taylor CA(SA) and her helpers.  A force to be reckoned with is tasked to look after the fitness, training and welfare of the pigeons in the loft.

At the helm is General Manager Geoff Armand, an experienced campaigner in both business and 45 years in racing pigeons.

Helping him is Race Director and Veterinarian, Dr Wim Peters with 25 years of private practice and more than 50 years’ experience in pigeon racing, able to say that he was crowned Champion in all the Organisations (7) in which he competed.

It further gives us great pleasure to be able to announce that Johann Grobbelaar Jnr, past champion of the TRPF and pigeon racer extraordinaire, has accepted the position of Loft Trainer.  His determination to succeed at the loft is reflected in his decision to, with his young family, relocate lock, stock and barrel to Victoria Falls.  His youthful ambition will be great asset to the loft.

Local people have been hand-selected to assist with the cleaning, feeding, loading for training tosses etc and are ready for the pigeons to arrive.

Further to this formidable team are the local veterinary officers and helpers, who besides the loft’s own veterinary laboratory, have offered the facilities of the Wildlife Organizations’ own laboratory for the loft to use.

In short this incomparable team, with all the auxiliary help that could be wished for, bodes well for the inaugural year of the Victoria Falls World Challenge Pigeon Race.  Watch this space for further developments!
