The Final Race was held from Kyle Dam near Masvingo from 598 km. The weather was clear with good visibility and variable wins. The first 2 hours of flight had a slight headwind up to 7km per hour. The middle part of the race had a slight assisting wind and the final leg had a side wind and headwind of up to 17km per hour. The maximum temperature was 27 degrees Celcius.
2271 pigeons were sent to the race. The first pigeon “Little Finn” entered by Brinkmann Racing Pigeons clocked after 7 hours 26 minutes of flying and was 5 minutes in front recording a velocity of 1339 m/min. This pigeon also won the Knock-out competition. There was a steady flow of returning pigeons which were well spread out. By the end of day one 299 pigeons had returned.
When the race closed at the end of day 2 there were 1219 pigeons home.
The final leg of the Super Ace was decided with the US$ 700 000 prize pot. This was won by Marnus Nel of South Africa with “Love 3”.
