Quarantine Update

The last quarantine has not been lifted yet and the quarantine period has run over time. Unfortunately, the relevant veterinary departments were unable to attend to our request to test our samples over the holiday period. The process is now in motion and we expect samples to be tested soon.

The pigeons are however all in good health and we have made some adjustments at the race loft with extra netting to help settle these older pigeons.

In the meantime, the pigeons will start the main body moult in the next 2 weeks with Northern Hemisphere birds approximately 2 weeks behind. During this period, we will be doing loft flying, basket training and short orientation flights. When the bulk of the pigeons are through the body moult at the end of March / early April we will increase the work rate and toss distance in preparation for the fierce competition which will take place from May to July.

Missing Birds Offer

We have had enquiries about purchasing “For Sale Pigeons” to top up teams where pigeons are missing.

We have decided to allow this because the final quarantine has not finished, and fanciers are unable to ship replacements at this late stage. Normally For Sale Birds are activated as Venture Pigeons with reserves. This helps us raise money for the Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust.

If you are interested in For Sale Birds in order to top up a team with missing birds they can be bought for $25 each. This does not form part of the activation fee. All the proceeds of the sale of the birds will go to the Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust. The activation fee is as per the rules being $950 per pigeon. If the bird forms part of a 5-bird team and all birds are paid for by 31 January then the fancier can get the advertised discount.

Any pigeon bought will fly in the name of the buyer and all rights to the pigeon and any winnings and sale proceeds will be for the buyer provided that the activation fee is paid.  If the pigeon is not activated by the Final Race then the flyer will lose all rights to that bird or birds.

Any pigeon selected under this offer will be done by VFWC staff and no guarantee is given on the performance or survival of any bird chosen. No pedigrees will be given unless the bird is selected to go to PIPA for sale after the final.

This offer expires on 31st January and any pigeon bought after this date “For Sale pigeon” will have to be bought under the rules applicable to “Venture Racers” advertised on our https://www.victoriafallswcpr.com/venture.php
