We have received a few queries asking how the ACE bird has been calculated and so would like to clarify this.
In our terms it states;
2. The ACE Bird will be the pigeon that has the highest average velocity over the 5 Hotspots and the final race. The ACE Bird must complete the final race in race time…
3. For the purposes of the ACE Bird competition race time for the final race will close at 12:00 noon on the second day or at such other time that VFWCPR Ltd may announce.
Average velocity (speed) is the Total Distance (metres) flown over these 6 races divided by the Total Time (minutes) flown. It only includes those birds which had returned by 12 noon on Saturday 27th.
We are happy to share the detailed calculation with any fancier who wishes to see it.
The Grand Averages are calculated in the same way but over 24 flights.
